Westward – retracing steps

22nd Feb 16 – 23rd Feb 16

Salema Boca Do Rio Free overnight stay

Weather cloudy with sunny intervals 14 degrees

Boris parked at Boca Do Rio Beach along with several neighbours

As we made a dash along the Algarve from Sagres to Praia Da Rocha previously we decided to back track West to visit some of the places we didn’t get to see on route. We headed towards Salema and saw several motorhomes parked behind the beach at Boca Do Rio.  A peaceful spot at the end of a road occupied by around 15 motorhomes – with no facilities we were only going to be able to stay a couple of nights. Situated around 2 km from Salema we followed the cliffs into the pretty village. The resorts in this part of the Algarve are small and low key with tiny cobbled streets (not good for Boris). Great for a few days relaxation and of course in February everywhere is pretty quiet.

The parking spot was lovely and peaceful until the sun went down and suddenly all you could hear was the sound of the grasshoppers and frogs. At 1st I thought my tinnitus had suddenly got worse –  I never realised they could be so noisy.

As we’d stocked up on route tonight’s delights consisted of Chicken and Prawn kebabs followed by raiding the treats cupboard.

Prawn and chicken kebabs followed by treats thanks to our visiting relatives

The following day we cycled into the neighbouring resort of Burgau around 6 km away (up a very steep hill which certainly tested the power in our bikes).

Next destination is Lagos.

Love to all Andi and Paul
